Sacked Wests Tigers NRL forward Matthew Lodge has been released from custody in New York after spending the weekend locked up with killers and rapists at the infamous Rikers Island prison.
Lodge made the US$50,000 (A$68,910) bond, comprising US$20,000 (A$27,565) cash, on Monday (Tuesday AEDT) morning, a New York Corrections spokesperson told AAP.
That doesn't end Lodge's US legal troubles.
He is facing up to 25 years' jail.
A secret grand jury is set to convene to determine what charges the troubled 20-year-old former Wests Tigers prop will face for his alleged bizarre and violent behaviour early Friday morning on Manhattan's upper-westside.
