KEY POINTS:
The New Zealand Rugby League has a total of 15 applicants for the Kiwis coaching position, all of them having been in its coaching system at some point in the past.
The selectors - Frank Endacott, Graham Lowe and convenor Howie Tamati - will consider the CVs this week and determine a shortlist of candidates who will be interviewed.
It is expected the appointment will be made by the middle of next month. A test will be played in Wellington in October before the tour to England.
Warriors captain Steve Price has accepted an invitation to join the All Golds 2007 team to play a commemorative match in England in October.
Price said it was "mind-blowing" to be asked to join the side to play a Northern Selection at Warrington in what is a festival game to mark 100 years of international league since the first tour by a New Zealand side made up largely of former All Blacks.
"I'm really honoured to be asked," Price said.
The 33-year-old has one year to go on his contract at the Warriors. He leads the ball-carrying statistics for all players in the NRL with 338 hit-ups in 19 games and is averaging over 220m gain per game (228m against the Knights on Saturday night), remarkable for a prop forward.
Next-best is Bronco Petero Civoniceva with 304 carries.
The Auckland Lions poured on 24 points in the final 10 minutes against the Newcastle Knights premier league side in the curtain-raiser at Mt Smart on Saturday.
The win keeps the Lions in with a slim hope of making the playoffs.
After a tight first half that finished 18-16, the Lions pushed on to be 30-26 up after 70 minutes and scored three late tries for a 54-26 victory. Warriors centre Tony Martin converted all of their nine tries.
