Billy Slater will be officially ruled out of the State of Origin decider today.
The Maroons' star fullback failed a secret fitness test in Melbourne and has left the Queensland squad to give his side enough time to prepare for next week's third Origin match against New South Wales without him.
It means Greg Inglis will shift to fullback with Dane Nielsen to play in the centres.
Matt Bowen will be released from the Maroons squad to play for the Cowboys against the Warriors in the NRL this weekend.
