BRISBANE - Former rugby league star Dale Shearer remains in a critical condition in hospital after crashing his Porsche on the Sunshine Coast.
The 43-year-old former test and State of Origin player was seriously injured when he lost control of his Porsche on a roundabout at Peregian Springs at around 11.10pm (AEST) on Saturday.
A hospital spokeswoman said on Monday that Shearer remained in a critical but stable condition.
Police have taken a blood sample from Shearer to investigate whether alcohol played a role in the crash.
The speed that Shearer was travelling at the time of the crash will also be investigated by police.
The crash came one year after his wife Delyse died from cancer. He has two sons.
