League: Roosters' Shaun Kenny-Dowall served with Apprehended Violence Order

Kiwis and Sydney Roosters outside back Shaun Kenny-Dowall has been served with an Apprehended Violence Order, lodged overnight by his former partner, Jessica Peris.

Peris, daughter of former Australian Olympian and Federal senator Nova Peris, applied for the AVO late last night at Maroubra Police Station.

The pair parted ways three weeks ago, after living together in Sydney's eastern suburbs for 18 months.

"An investigation is underway following a number of allegations that were made to police. It would be inappropriate to comment further," said a spokesperson for New South Wales Police.

Sydney's Seven News reports that Peris and Kenny-Dowall have been negotiating a financial settlement in recent weeks.

The Roosters have been aware of the talks between the pair and it is understood the NRL were informed of the situation several weeks ago.

Kenny-Dowall has been named on the wing in the Roosters side to face the Warriors in Sunday's NRL clash at Allianz Stadium. It is unclear at this stage if the Roosters will stand him down.

The 27-year-old has been in strong form for the Tri-Colours this season and in May was rewarded with a two-year contract extension.

The 2013 premiership winner arrived in Sydney with his father when he was 16 and famously stayed in an Eastern Suburbs backpacker's hostel before winning a contract with the Roosters.

Since making his debut in 2007 he has gone on to play 192 NRL games and scored 108 tries, leaving him on course to break former fullback and captain Anthony Minichiello's club record of 139.

He has represented New Zealand on 13 occasions, including the 2010 and 2014 Four Nations victories, and this year's Anzac test win over the Kangaroos.
