A number of options are being explored by the Kiwis in practice as they get set for Sunday's Tri-series test against Great Britain at Huddersfield.
Coach Brian McClennan says they are closer to finalising their 17, having tried all sorts of combinations out in the hotly contested hooker/halfback roles.
McClennan says Louis Anderson has had a go at hooker, having played there last year.
Motu Tony and David Faiumu have been tried at halfback while the combination of Tony at hooker and Faiumu at halfback has also been tested.
The kiwi side is due to be named tomorrow.
McClennan says the theme this week is "onwards" - the catchcry of the New Zealand infantry.
That theme is out of respect for Major Booth, the father of Michelle Booth, the team physio.
Major Booth is very ill at present and his daughter has had to return home to be bedside with him.
