An NRL player's contract has been declared void because a senior Gold Coast Titans official faked the footballer's initials on it.
Titans football manager Scott Clark forged James Roberts' signature on a contract ammendment involving $54,800 in payment bonuses should he play State of Origin.
Clark admitted what he had done to club chief executive Graham Annesley this week and immediately left the club, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Noted speedster Roberts, the Dally M centre-of-the-year, notified the Titans this week after discovering it wasn't his signature on the contract. He is now free to talk to other clubs.
League star turned boxer Anthony Mundine has taken over as Roberts' manager and said: "This has all happened through no fault of his own. He was shocked.
