The Papakura Sea Eagles claimed their first Fox Memorial Premiership title yesterday, downing the Pt Chevalier Pirates 12-8.
Pt Chevalier had won the last three Fox titles but were always on the back foot in yesterday's match, as they struggled with ball control.
They trailed 6-0 at halftime and 12-4 late in the second half, before a 78th-minute consolation try.
George Edwards and Andrew Tusiane crossed for Papakura, with Reece Joyce nailing two crucial kicks, while Dylan Moses and Saula Solomona scored unconverted tries for the Pirates.
"I'm lost for words," said Papakura captain Roman Hifo.
