KEY POINTS:
The New Zealand Rugby League will sit down with Kiwis coach Brian McClennan tomorrow to discuss his future in the job.
The ball is in McClennan's court as he considers an offer from Leeds in Super League.
Among the issues on the agenda will be a time-line for him to make a decision.
If he rejects the offer, it's game over. Turning Leeds down seems unlikely.
It is also increasingly clear that the NZRL will not retreat from its position that the Kiwis coach lives in New Zealand.
"It is a contractual obligation in his contract," said NZRL chairman Andrew Chalmers in relation to the residency requirement. "It is the same term that was in Daniel Anderson's contract and it's in there for a specific set of reasons."
But neither he nor McClennan would say much more.
McClennan said: "You'll have to deal with the NZRL. I'm contracted to them. I can't be discussing details."
The NZRL's director of coaching, Graham Lowe, is already scouting the possible replacements for McClennan and is confident he will put forward worthy candidates for the board to assess if and when the coach says he is going.
The top candidate is said to be Wellington and Junior Kiwis coach Paul Bergman, with Anderson's assistant James Leuluai, Phil Prescott from the Canterbury Bulls and David Lomax of the Central Falcons in the mix.
