Kiwis league fans can apparently rest easy. There seems little likelihood of Benji Marshall switching codes despite interest from the New Zealand Rugby Union.
The union approached the Wests Tigers five-eighth with a view to playing at the 2007 World Cup. But his co-manager Brett Papworth has all but ruled out the one-test Kiwi turning to rugby after his contract with the NRL high flyers expires at the end of next season.
NZRU deputy chief executive Steve Tew confirmed he was interested in Marshall, who attended last Saturday's Bledisloe Cup test as a guest of the union.
But Papworth said Marshall was a long shot to change codes. "It would take something stunning for him to even think about moving."
