KEY POINTS:
SYDNEY - Former Australian rugby league legend Terry Lamb is alleged to have assaulted a fellow golfer on a golf course last month.
Lamb tonight refused to comment on the claims aired on the Nine Network that he assaulted the man on the 18th green of the Cabramatta course on October 27.
Lamb is one of the legends of rugby league, having played more than 300 first-grade games and helping guide Canterbury Bulldogs to three premierships.
Lamb is said to have attacked club member Greg Davidson at the end of a 'slow' round and punched him in the face.
Other golfers separated the two men and Davidson reported the incident to the club and police.
He was taken to Baulkham Hills hospital fearing he had a broken nose and jaw but he was only diagnosed with bruising.
Police confirmed that a 45-year-old Abbotsbury man had been issued a court attendance notice for the offence of assault in an alleged incident at the club.
The man is due to face Liverpool Local Court on December 13, police said.
Lamb tonight would not discuss details of the incident but refuted claims he had been charged to face court on December 13.
"(Network Nine) said it's going to court in December. I have not been informed of anything from the police," Lamb said.
"I cannot tell you anything because it's still being investigated. It's obviously already come out in the press."
A spokesman for the Cabramatta Golf Club confirmed a meeting had been planned for tonight to investigate the incident, but it was abandoned following media interest in the hearing.
