League: Kiwis take the tube in London

The Kiwis got an unexpected early taste of London life today, with an unscheduled tube ride during peak hour.

The team travelled down to the capital from Hull today, but their bus came to a standstill in heavy traffic north west of the city centre.

After being stuck in a jam for 20 minutes, the team decided to abandon the bus and took the London Underground for the rest of the journey.

They encountered several surprised New Zealanders - as well as a lot of local commuters - on the way, as they travelled from Swiss Cottage station to South Kensington, via Green Park.

The team eventually arrived at their hotel around 7pm local time.

The Kiwis will have another quintessential London experience tomorrow morning (Wednesday NZT), as they will take an open top double decker bus on a tour of the famous sights around the city.

Their week is rounded out by an open training at Harrow school on Thursday, followed by a weights session.

On Friday the team will have their captain's run at Olympic stadium, before the match the following day.

Organisers have already sold more than 40,000 tickets for the clash, which will be the first time league has been played at the iconic venue.

They remain hopeful of a sold out stadium, and their chances have surely been boosted by England's 26-12 win yesterday.
