KEY POINTS:
After three days off the Kiwis rugby league players re-group in Sydney today for an anxious wait to see whether they'll actually get to play another game.
Kiwis coach Brian McClennan and his management staff gave the squad a few days off after their big 34-4 win over Great Britain in Wellington on Saturday.
The Kiwis have won twice in the Tri-Nations but, after being docked two competition points in the wake of the Nathan Fien "Grannygate" debacle for playing the ineligible Australian-born hooker, the Kiwis are hanging on the Australia-Great Britain result this weekend.
The Kiwis and Great Britain both have two competition points, but the Kiwis have a superior points differential courtesy of Saturday's win.
To make the Tri-Nations final against Australia, they need Australia to beat Great Britain.
McClennan said the three days off were just what the doctor ordered.
"Personally it's been a chance to come up for some air," he said.
"I'm actually getting to the point where I want to get back into it.
"I think if everyone feels like this when we get back into camp it's going to achieve its purpose."
McClennan said if his players did get a final shot, they would need to play even better than in their Wellington win.
"I thought we were a bit sloppy at times," he said.
" We've got a lot to improve on after our last performance.
"If we do make the final I think we're going to have to be a lot better than that to even compete with Australia -- they're that good."
The Kangaroos play Great Britain in Brisbane on Saturday.
