The Kiwis could face off against the Kangaroos in an end-of-year test in Perth in October next year before heading on to the UK for the Four Nations.
The West Australian newspaper reports the NRL is in talks with the State Government about staging a transtasman test at Nib Stadium, with the idea gaining momentum when NRL chief executive Dave Smith visited Perth earlier this month to take in the Warriors clash against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The Kiwis and Kangaroos would use the match as a warm-up to the Four Nations tournament in England and Scotland in October and November.
The NRL were keen to bring a transtasman to Perth three years ago but the State Government wavered over the decision before the game was eventually held in Townsville.
The NRL have confirmed there are plans for Perth to host rugby league World Cup matches in 2017 and have expressed interest in taking State of Origin games to both Perth and Auckland.
