The Kiwis have crashed to a 22-12 loss in the tri-series clash against Great Britain in Huddersfield, after losing their way in the second half.
New Zealand had an encouraging 12-2 lead at halftime, Ali Lauitiiti and Sonny Bill Williams scoring tries and Brent Webb kicking two conversions.
But the Brits came storming back with three tries after the break, two to Stuart Reardon and one to Terry Newton.
Skipper Andy Farrell kicked a conversion and two penalties, while rugby union convert Iestyn Harris added another two penalties
New Zealand now has a draw and two losses, and faces an uphill battle to make the final against Australia.
