The Kiwis Ferns struck first blood in the NRL's representative weekend, with a convincing 26-16 win over Australia on Friday night.
The match was the main curtain raiser to the Kiwis versus Kangaroos, and it was a beauty.
There were some spectacular tries, big hits and flowing back line play - as we have come to expect in clashes between the Kiwi Ferns and the Jillaroos.
The New Zealand side scored six tries to three, and sealed the match with two four pointers in quick succession midway through the second half.
The Kiwi Ferns pack was dominant throughout, especially with ball in hand and halves Georgia Hale and Kristina Sue gained great profit off that. Hale was particularly prominent, laying on two tries including a brilliant cut out pass mid way through the first half.
Kiwi Ferns 26 (Atawhai Tupaea 2, Sarina Fiso 2, Maitua Feterika, Krystal Rota tries; Nora Maaka goal)
Jillaroos 16 (Karina Brown 2, Sam Bremner tries; Maddie Studdon, Caitlyn Moran goals) at Hunter Stadium.
Half-time: Ferns 12-6.
