KEY POINTS:
It appears there is growing support for Kiwis coach Gary Kemble to retain his job despite record losses to both Australia and Great Britain.
The post-tour review is believed to have raised the issue of player power.
The New Zealand Rugby League board will meet on Friday to discuss the reports from director of football Graham Lowe, business manager Pat Carthy and others which have been collated over the past three weeks.
Lowe said he had identified issues and offered some recommendations.
It's believed the tour management has expressed concern at the players' lack of backing of Kemble. Lowe has apparently suggested that stronger action should have been taken after the debacle in Wellington where they lost 58-0 to Australia before claims of sexual indiscretion at the team hotel.
NZRL manager Peter Cordtz said the board wanted to clarify matters quickly. "We need to acknowledge that something didn't work, clearly didn't work, and we need to identify the key issues and address them," Cordtz said.
He wouldn't discuss the continuing speculation that Wayne Bennett might be brought in as back-up to the coach following his success with the All Golds.
Cordtz and new NZRL chairman Ray Haffenden have also been meeting past and prospective sponsors and other funding partners "to give them the opportunity to raise any problems or concerns they have". The NZRL is yet to sign Kiwis sponsors.
Meanwhile, Kiwis fullback Krisnan Inu has been named the New Zealand international player of the year by the Australian Rugby League Players Association.
Kangaroos skipper Darren Lockyer was awarded the Aussie player of the year and Cowboys fullback Matt Bowen NRL player of the year.
