Former Kiwis prop Jason Cayless has prematurely ended his contract at with British rugby league giants St Helens after failing to recover from a shoulder injury.
Cayless, 29, made 83 appearances for the club but hasn't played since April.
Having joined Saints on a four-year deal in 2005, Cayless will move back to Australia rather than see out the remainder of the season.
He was a member of the club's Challenge Cup-winning teams in 2006 and 2007 and was also a Super League grand final winner in 2006.
"It has been a tragedy for him and a disappointment for us that injury has blighted his last two seasons at the club," chairman Eamonn McManus told the BBC.
