Melbourne Storm and Queensland fullback Greg Inglis has officially been ruled out of next week's State of Origin II in Brisbane.
Inglis has stress fractures in his lower back and has been replaced by Canberra's Adam Mogg.
Maroons officials said they accepted the Storm's advice that the teenager would not be fit for next Wednesday's match.
Mogg will join his team-mates when the Maroons assemble for tomorrow's medicals in Brisbane.
He said the call-up this afternoon did not come as a complete surprise.
"I spoke to Mal (Meninga, Maroons coach) yesterday and he said that I was on stand-by so sort of left it at that," he said.
"I got the call so like I said just really excited and looking forward to the game."
The Maroons initially wanted Inglis to fly to Brisbane for tomorrow's medicals, which sparked an angry response from the teenager.
But Queensland Rugby League managing director Ross Livermore said Inglis should not have been upset.
"There certainly wasn't pressure from the League's perspective anyway," he said.
"The doctor was keen to look at him. He can understand the situation, he's in a rep side and it's up to the QRL medical officer to rule him out."
Inglis said earlier that he did not want to risk serious injury by travelling to Brisbane.
"It's always disappointing to miss out on Origin," he said.
"I'm just happy my name's being thrown into the squad and they're hungry to get me back in there but I'm trying to get myself right.
"Hopefully I'll have 10 years in this business and I don't want to go up there and risk losing two years."
Inglis said he was hoping the Maroons could force the series to a decider.
"They're probably feeling a lot of pressure at the moment, they're facing four years of series loss in a row," he said.
"But I think they've got the right people up there to win this game but hopefully I'll be all right for the third State of Origin in Melbourne."
