KEY POINTS:
New Zealand rugby league officials have succeeded in having a neutral referee appointed for the Anzac test against Australia in Brisbane on Friday.
England's Steve Ganson, who controlled the 2005 Tri-Nations final when the Kiwis beat Australia 24-0, has been confirmed to control the match.
The New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) gained support from the Rugby Football League (RFL) in England to secure a neutral referee.
"Our position was to have a neutral referee and the RFL shared that view," NZRL national referees' co-ordinator Ian Mackintosh said today.
"We believe it's important to have neutral referees in matches of this standing."
Mackintosh also confirmed Dave Pakieto would be the NZRL video referee for the test while Leon Williamson would be the NZRL touch judge.
The Australian Rugby League has indicated it will appoint its video referee, touch judge and the reserve referee after this weekend's round of National Rugby League matches.
