Greg Eastwood is out of contention for New Zealand's defence of their Four Nations rugby league crown in England in October after needing more surgery on an injury-cursed wrist.
The Bulldogs utility forward had been troubled by fractures to both wrists when he returned to the NRL following a stint in the Super League with Leeds and the problem has emerged again to end his season.
Eastwood had another procedure on his right wrist on Wednesday in a bid to have him firing for the Bulldogs next tilt at the NRL title in 2012.
Bulldogs medical staff encouraged Eastwood to have another operation and it was performed by the same surgeon who oversaw former Kiwis captain Roy Asotasi's treatment and rehabilitation after he broke a wrist while playing for South Sydney in May.
Meanwhile, a disappointed Eastwood also revealed he had been playing with an injured ankle after he rolled it on his two-year-old son's toy car as he got out of bed recently.
