Once again the Kiwis have been dragged through the murky waters of international rugby league's flimsy eligibility rules.
Manly winger Tony Williams has been named in the Australian Rugby League's Prime Minister's 13, a week after being named in the Kiwis train-on squad.
Williams' manager says his allegiance is with Tonga and Australia.
Australian Rugby League chief executive Geoff Carr says he's eligible to play for the Kangaroos.
However New Zealand Rugby League CEO Jim Doyle says Williams has told Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney he wants to play for New Zealand.
His manager Isaac Moses has confirmed Williams allegiances are with Tonga and Australia however.
Carr believes Williams wants to play State of Origin.
Doyle says if that's the case they are probably wasting their time.
If Williams misses selection for the Kangaroos he's likely to play for Tonga.
