Former rugby league bad boy John Hopoate was involved in a physical altercation with a security guard at the New South Wales State of Origin team's hotel on Wednesday night.
Sydney's Daily Telegraph reports the drama occurred as Laurie Daley's Blues were boarding their team bus for ANZ Stadium when Hopoate clashed with one of the Pullman Hotel's security guards.
The 41-year-old former Manly and Wests Tigers hard man took offence when the guard refused him entry to the hotel because he did not have the required accreditation.
Big 'Hoppa' - whose eldest son William played on the wing in the Blues' 11-10 defeat to Queensland - allegedly hit the guard before entering the hotel unopposed. The guard did not wish to pursue the matter and police were not notified.
While Hopoate senior remains as fiery as he did during his playing career, William is a devout Morman and known as one of the game's genuine nice guys.
