I write this column with a heart that is nearly bursting with pride because I watched a dream becoming true last night.
Like many of my vintage, I've had a belief all my life that given the opportunity, the Kiwis could consistently reign supreme in the world of rugby league. The talent we have produced is simply remarkable but it has not always been easy to show it off.
There have been many Kiwi trail blazers over the last 100 years into the professional game in the UK and Australia, but for too long that feed was only allowed to drip through for various administrational reasons. But since the early 90s' this has changed and New Zealand players are no longer hamstrung by unrealistic international transfer fees.
And now, with the talent pouring from New Zealand into the NRL, the Kiwis have finally been rewarded with the status they deserve. They have proved they are the best team in the world.
