Wallabies coach John Connolly believes potential union convert Mark Gasnier would make a handy centre acquisition but not necessarily at next year's World Cup in France.
The Australian Rugby Union on Wednesday tabled an offer, reportedly worth A$700,000, ($841,000) to recruit 24-year-old Gasnier from St George Illawarra.
It is believed the deal would only reach that sum if Gasnier plays all tests for Australia and a full Super 14 season with the Waratahs.
