Former NRL star Beau Ryan's touching response to sick fan

Beau Ryan made a two hour drive to meet a friend of Sevens player Mahalia Murphy, right.

Beau Ryan has once again proved why he is one of rugby league's nice guys.

The former Wests Tigers and Sharks back responded to an "urgent request" from Jillaroo and women's sevens star Mahalia Murphy to help boost her dying friend's spirits.

In the post, Murphy says her friend - who is fighting cancer - "has roughly four hours to live".

he Facebook post reads: URGENT REQUEST!!! Any assistance to boost my friend up? She is currently in Prince of Wales hospital and has roughly 4hours to live as she's fighting cancer. She wants Greg Inglis or beau Ryan To come see her. If everyone can share this or get in contact for me this would be much appreciated.

The post - which has been shared over 500 times - reached Ryan and his response was immediate.

"Leaving Shellharbour now!" Ryan replied.

"See you in two hours. Tell her to stay strong."

Hundreds of Facebook users have sent their best wishes and condolences to Murphy's friend.

Ryan made it in time to see Murphy's friend.
