Former New Zealand Rugby League chairman Gerald Ryan has passed away. He was 87.
Ryan held roles as chairman of the Auckland Warriors before becoming an NZRL chairman from 1997-2001.
Ryan's contribution to rugby league in New Zealand was officially recognised in 2011 when he was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for his services.
