New Zealand coach John Plumtree has joined the Irish international team as their forwards coach and will begin working with the team next month.
The 48-year-old coached the Sharks in the Super Rugby competition from 2008 until he was replaced earlier this year, and also coached Wellington from 2001-2006.
"Having watched a number of recent Test matches there are some really positive challenges in front of us," Plumtree told the BBC.
"I'm conscious of the responsibility we have and will be working hard to play my part in driving the team forward."
Plumtree guided Wellington Lions to three play-off finals before moving to Natal Sharks, and was named South African Coach of the Year in 2012.
