Japan coach Eddie Jones will remain in a Tokyo hospital indefinitely while he has tests after showing signs of a stroke.
The 53-year-old Jones was hospitalized on Tuesday, after complaining of a severe headache while checking a training camp site.
He didn't attend the announcement on Wednesday of the squad to play the All Blacks in Tokyo on Nov. 2 and a following four-match tour of Europe. The Japan Rugby Union said Jones only was ill and it wasn't serious, and Kyodo News Agency said he was talking and upbeat.
Jake White, whom Jones assisted in helping the Springboks win the 2007 Rugby World Cup, told the website keo.co.za that he spoke to Jones' Japanese wife.
"He is in intensive care and he currently doesn't have movement on his left side but he is talking and, typical of Eddie, it's about the challenge of the All Blacks and the subsequent European tour," White said.
