Sam Batty, son of the charismatic former All Black wing Grant Batty, has been named in the Queensland Reds side to take on the Maori at Ballymore tomorrow night.
Batty jun plays for beaten Queensland club grand finalists Gold Coast, who are coached by his father, but his selection has come out of the blue.
Batty will be in the reserves for a Reds team missing Matt Cockbain, Nathan Sharpe, Toutai Kefu, Elton Flatley, Daniel Herbert, Wendell Sailor and Chris Latham, who are in the frame for the Wallabies.
