Stephen Donald has got the green light to play in England following a Rugby Football Union appeal hearing.
Doubts were cast over Donald's move to the British premiership because RFU rules state foreign players must have featured for their country in the last 15 months. Though the 27-year-old Chiefs first five had 22 test caps, he had not played for the All Blacks since September 2009.
But after an appeal by Bath, Donald was yesterday given an endorsement to play in England and can now apply to the UK Border Agency for a visa.
Donald is seen as a direct replacement for South African Butch James, who left Bath this season.
Director of rugby Sir Ian McGeechan said: "We are very much looking forward to Stephen joining us here at Bath.
