Dan Carter might be used to the cold Canterbury climate but the former All Blacks five-eighth has exposed his body to freezing temperatures as part of a new recovery procedure at his French club Racing 92.
The cashed-up Paris club have a new whole-body cryotherapy chamber as an alternative to ice baths or packs, to aid players in their recovery from soreness and muscle pain.
The new method of treatment sees players exposed to extremely cold dry air (below -100 degrees Celsius) for between two to four minutes.
Carter today tweeted a photo of himself with teammate Joe Rockocoko preparing to enter the chamber, wearing only underpants, beanies, gloves and face masks, saying: "Medical team have a new toy! Amazing for recovery so my Fijian buddy & I are into it #cryotherapy"
