Sebastien Chabal's rugby career looks to be on the wane after Racing-Metro effectively sacked one of French sport's most recognisable characters.
The French forward became famous with his towering physique, a mane of black hair and bushy beard and saw his worth shoot up after the 2007 World Cup, capitalising on his iconic looks and sometimes-barnstorming style of play.
However, he missed the 2011 Rugby World Cup through a lack of form and has been limited to six appearances for his club side this year.
Racing have released a statement saying Chabal failed to agree with the club's "playing strategy'' under coach Pierre Berbizier.
Chabal says he is looking at playing opportunities in the Southern hemisphere.
