Beauden Barrett, Julian Savea and Ben Franks are all missing for the Hurricanes as they seek to continue their undefeated start to the season against the Rebels in Wellington on Friday.
The All Blacks trio are being rested by coach Chris Boyd, with James Marshall taking over Barrett's No10 jersey.
Matt Proctor replaces left wing Savea, with Ben May coming in for tighthead prop Franks.
Hooker Dane Coles has been ruled out with an elbow injury, but lock James Broadhurst makes a timely return from suspension to replace Blade Thomson, who has been ruled out with a concussion suffered in the tense victory over the Highlanders in Dunedin.
The Melbourne-based Rebels have the potential to be difficult opponents for the Hurricanes, but have had an inconsistent start to the season. They beat the Crusaders in Christchurch in round one, but lost their next games to the Waratahs and Brumbies, before beating the Force. Last weekend in Melbourne they conceded a try in the final minutes to lose to the Lions.
