Rowing New Zealand have a golden chance to promote their bid for the 2010 world championships to the sport's global decision-makers.
CEO Craig Ross said a regatta planned in mid-March coincides with an important visit by the world governing body.
Ross said FISA will visit Lake Karapiro when the North Island Secondary Schools Championships are on, which will have more than 1500 competitors.
Ross pointed out that is twice the number of athletes who would attend the world championships in five years and they will be able to show the delegates how to host a regatta, as well as give them a decent idea of what the venue will look like in 2010.
Meanwhile, Craig Ross is disappointed that rowing did not receive any sort of People's Choice Award, especially for Richard Tonks in the coaching category, on the back of their four world championship gold medals.
