New Zealand's men's coxless four became the latest Kiwi crew to make the A finals at the under-23 rowing world championships in Trakai, Lithuania last night.
In a race-long battle with the British, the Kiwi crew came back from third at the first 500 metre marker to lead through the halfway and 1500m points.
The two boats traded punched throughout the last 300 metres before the British eventually got across the line first, just two-tenths of a second ahead of New Zealand.
Spain grabbed third for the final place in the A final where the three crews will be joined by Germany, Austria and the United States from the other semifinal.
Single sculler Joseph Trappitt had a tougher time, finishing fifth in his quarter-final and then fourth in the B semifinal. He will fight it out for a ranking place of between 19th to 25th in the D final tonight (NZT).
