Double Olympic gold medallists Caroline Meyer and Georgina Earl (nee Evers-Swindell) have been nominated for the prestigious Thomas Keller medal for rowing.
The twin sisters, who landed gold in the double sculls at Athens in 2004 and in Beijing four years later, are up against Vaclav Chalupa (Czech Republic), Jueri Jaanson (Estonia) and Pertti Karppinen (Finland) for the highest award in rowing.
It is presented to any rower within five years of their retirement and recognises the best in the sport as well as those who have shown exemplary sportsmanship during their career. The twins retired from competition in 2008.
The prize is an 18-carat gold medal and will be presented in Switzerland in July.
