Romania's five-time Olympic rowing champion Elisabeth Lipa has been rewarded by her country with one of its highest sporting honours.
Lipa, 40, who intends competing at her seventh Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, has been handed the title of Police General to cap a glittering 20-year career.
A year ago, she put on hold the raising of her 6-year-old son and an office job in the police to come out of retirement for the third time, going on to claim a gold medal in the coxed eight in Athens in August.
Her first gold came in the double sculls at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.
