KEY POINTS:
New Zealand scullers Emma Twigg and Candice Hammond qualified for semifinals as New Zealand's good form at the World Cup rowing regatta in Munich continued today.
Olympic-bound sculler Twigg was untroubled in winning her quarterfinal today in eight minutes 36.58 seconds, the sixth fastest time overall to advance to the semis tomorrow. The time was 7sec slower than was needed to win yesterday's heat.
Lightweight single sculler Hammond was fourth in her heat yesterday but looked relaxed today in winning her repechage in 9min 04.29sec. Hammond was to be contesting the lightweight double this week but crewmate Louise Ayling is injured.
The regatta is the first major meet of the European season and has attracted a small New Zealand contingent.
Hammond and Ayling, men's lightweight double Peter Taylor and Storm Uru, and the women's eight are all preparing for the final Olympic qualifying regatta in Poznan, Poland next month.
Taylor and Uru weren't in such sharp form today, finish fifth in their quarterfinal which sees them qualify for the C final.
The women's eight were fourth in their heat today in 6min 54.61sec and will contest the repechages tomorrow. The eight comprises Emma Jane Feathery, Harriet Austin, Anna Reymer, Paula Twining, Simone Hudson, Erin Tolhurst, Fiona Paterson, Rebecca Scown and cox Rachel Goudie.
Yesterday lightweight men's world champion Peter Grant put recent injury worries behind him to comfortably win his heat and advance to the semifinals of his non-Olympic class.
