Zoe McBride has turned the heat up on Rowing New Zealand selectors once again.
The world champion lightweight single sculler easily took out her heat on the opening day of the national rowing championships on Lake Karapiro.
With no lightweight boat at the Olympics, McBride is trying to force her way into the lightweight double sculls boat in time for Rio.
Robbie Manson was another opening day standout, pipping Mahe Drysdale in the men's single sculls heats. Drysdale also played second fiddle in last month's Cambridge Town Cup regatta.
Day two is largely dominated by repechages, with semi-finals in some classes to come in the afternoon.
