Duncan Grant got the campaign underway with a heat win in the men's lightweight singles sculls.
There were also heat wins for Mahe Drysdale in the men's single, Emma Feathery and Rebecca Scown in the women's pair and Eric Murray and Hamish Bond in the men's pair.
Also through to the semifinals are women's singles sculler Emma Twigg and the double sculls crews of Anna Reimer and Paula Twining and Matthew Trott and Nathan Cohen.
The men's four of Jade Uru, Simon Watson, Hamish Burson and Tyson Williams were third in their heat meaning they now head to a repechage.
