Australia's Olympic gold medal rower Duncan Free will miss the world championships in Slovenia in late August after having surgery on a broken leg.
Free, coxless pair gold medallist with Drew Ginn in Beijing in 2008, broke his leg when struck by a car while cycling on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old had been named in the coxless four for the worlds.
