The New Zealand team have had a mixed day at the Rowing World Championships on Lake Karapiro.
The men's eights finished second in their heat, just being pipped by the German team.
Meanwhile the women's eights came third in their heat.
Both crews missed out on automatic spots into their respective finals and will need to go through repechages to have a chance at medalling.
The eights were the only two crews in action this morning after two superb first up days on the lake for the New Zealanders.
In all, nine of 13 Kiwi crews won heats on day two, with the men's four, women's pair and women's lightweight single sculls advancing to A finals.
