Mahe Drysdale is now making good progress in his recovery from a back injury sustained in a training collision
The Olympic rower is on the road to recovery following a freak collision with a water skier while training on Lake Karapiro a few weeks ago.
He is clocking up 20kms a day in training, although he is taking a slowly but surely approach as he is still feeling a few niggles in his lower back.
Drysdale said the comeback has been very frustrating in the last couple of weeks but his fitness has improved quickly in recent days and his confidence is back.
He is hoping to be completely pain free in three to four weeks, and wants to be back in full competition mode next month.
Drysdale said while there was an initial fear that his season was over, he always remained positive and he never actually thought he would not be able to row again.
