The regular season of the French Top 14 has finally drawn to a close, and it was Ma'a Nonu's Toulon who effected the biggest result of the weekend.
Nonu was in the No 12 jersey and Tom Taylor off the pine as Toulon hammered Bordeaux-Begles 44-3 to overtake Montpellier and thus move directly into the semifinals as the second placed qualifier. Simon Hickey kicked a penalty goal for the vanquished, while Luke Braid was at openside flanker.
Clermont also has a week off as the top qualifier, thrashing La Rochelle 57-8. Fritz Lee was at No 8 for Jono Gibbes' side.
Joe Rokocoko scored a try for Racing-Metro in their 40-25 win over Anthony Tuitavake's Montpellier, which in turn leaves the Parisians with a playoff game against Toulouse, who hammered Grenoble 53-14.
Former Bay of Plenty loose forward Carl Axtens was the sole Kiwi in action for Toulouse, though second five Tino Nemani scored a try for Grenoble, while Steven Setephano was at No 8.
