Ronda Rousey roasted for coronavirus brag

Former UFC star Ronda Rousey has copped a hammering on social media after bragging about how prepared she is to deal with the coronavirus outbreak.

The 33-year-old and her husband Travis Browne developed a sustainable ranch in America called Browsey Acres and Rousey took to Instagram on Friday to show how the pair have a ready-made stockpile of supplies in case they can't leave the house or need to self-isolate.

Rousey posted videos that gave her followers a look at her vegetable patch, fruit trees, water tanks, chickens, freezers full of meat and solar panels, saying she doesn't need to stock up because she already has everything she needs.

"Our coronavirus panic shopping list is: Non-existent," Rousey wrote.

"It's no secret I've been a proud prepper for years — but let's all learn from this pandemic panic and be a little more self sufficient and prepared in the future.

"Taking steps to live sustainably takes time but ultimately saves money, permanently eliminates water and power bills, reduces our carbon footprint, and is just plain healthier.

"We started @browsey_acres with just a compost bin and a few boxes of @soylent, which then became just a small herb garden, then a full garden (admittedly still under construction) then a few chickens, then a few more chickens (and ducks!), then a whole steer, then a solar roof, then a water catchment system.

"Start small! Just start! Let's stop panicking and start preparing! Stay safe out there and #StayRowdyMyFriends!"

UFC and WWE stars like Sarah Logan and Rose Namajunas gave Rousey's message a thumbs up on Instagram but outside of the celebrity world the reaction was far harsher.

Plenty panned the former bantamweight champion, saying it was all well and good for someone with a sizeable bank balance to take measures like her, but for the average person, that's just not feasible.

On Instagram, one user commented saying: "Helps to be rich, A lot of people can barely afford rent."

Another claimed Rousey's message was "borderline tone deaf" while someone else wrote: "Not everyone has millions of dollars. Real humble and classy Ronda."
