Black Sticks hockey star Gemma Flynn completed the Spring Challenge adventure race over the weekend with fiance Richie McCaw playing a supporting role.
Flynn, who announced last week she will take the rest of the year off before making a call on her future in the hockey, took part in the women's adventure race in Golden Bay which involved mountainbiking, rafting and running.
McCaw did a similar thing after retiring from rugby, competing in the GODZone adventure race - a five-day, 530km event - at the top of the South Island in April.
"What a great weekend.. Rafting, biking, running and enjoying. All I can say is that the Spring Challenge was every bit worth it," Flynn posted on Instagram.
"Seeing so many women complete this event in such testing conditions was inspirational. One of the best events I've been involved in and so lucky to have these ladies alongside me."
