National women's softball team coach Dean Rice has stepped down while calling for a more professional approach to the sport.
New Zealand's only women's world title came in 1982 and Rice feels the drought will continue without some major issues being addressed.
At last week's world championships in Caracas, New Zealand won two of their seven games and finished 12th in the 16-team competition.
