Former All Black Jeff Wilson has recorded his first win as a racehorse trainer.
The win came at the Gore Harness Racing Club's meeting on Sunday, when Commando took out the Gore Workouts Committee Trot.
Wilson, who was not on course, entered into a training partnership with Christchurch horseman Ray Jenkins last month. Jenkins drove Commando to win the race.
Jenkins said: "We're working 17 horses and will have 27 or 28 in over the summer. We've got a lot of three-year-olds to bring in."
Commando's dam, Charolai (three wins), also gained her first success at Gore in 1994. Her other victories were at Alexandra Park and Addington.
Meanwhile, patience paid off for Edendale trainer Craig Laurenson when Clifton Chance won the Shoe Biz Footwear Pace when having his second start.
Clifton Chance debuted at Forbury Park 11 months ago.
