Two horses are in the home straight at the rear of the field and the jockey of one says to the other, can I borrow your whip? I've dropped mine.
The reply is, yeah sure, have it.
That's basically what happened in a race at Riccarton in Christchurch on December 15.
Palmerston North riders Bruce Herd and Hayden Tinsley were each fined $150 on charges of misconduct.
Herd, who admitted guilt, had his fine imposed on January 3. Tinsley had his fine handed down at Riccarton on Saturday after pleading guilty.
Tinsley's mount was eighth and Herd's last of the 12 runners.
